Fraser Coast Show Society

There are many ways to get involved with your local show!

The Fraser Coast Show has grown and changed with the passage of time but is still one of the region's most celebrated events. There is no disputing the 'fun' factor and healthy rivalry remains constant as people of all ages compete in over 40 different events from animal production to food preparation, creative arts to sporting challenges.
Some 30 plus community groups gather their resources to promote their special interests, hobbies and services and succeed each year in mounting truly innovative and memorable displays.
The "Show" gives children who've never had the opportunity to get up close and personal with the animal world to touch, feed and learn about everything from guinea pigs to camels.
Side Show Alley is a natural magnet for young and old, as much for the character of the showies that has flavored agricultural shows since the 1920's, as for the thrill of the rides, and who could forget the volunteers that form the backbone of the Fraser Coast Show. They embody the very meaning of the word 'community' as they selflessly give up hours of personal time. For 12 long months they weave their magic over two brief but memorable days, and succeed in producing an event that is just as relevant today as it was back the the days of its humble beginnings, more than a century past.

The Fraser Coast Show Society is committed to providing entrants with training in deportment, public speaking, dancing and grooming prior to judging. Support and guidance is also provided by the Quest Subcommittee to help make your fundraising efforts as effective, as fun and rewarding as possible.

Judging will take place in May 2012 prior and during the Showgirl Ball where winners of each category will be announced. All entrants will be judged across a range of areas including general knowledge, personality, speech, manners, presentation and deportment, regional involvement and knowledge of their local agriculture show. Entrants will be judged in both day and evening wear. The keys to the mystery 4 cylinder car will then be handed over to the Fundraising Champion by Bay City Autos, Maryborough City Autos and the President of the Fraser Coast Show Society at the Official Opening at the Show.

Both the Miss Showgirl Award and the Rural Ambassador Award are conducted by the Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc (QCAS). The Fraser Coast Show Society, as a Queensland agricultural society, falls under the umbrella of QCAS and conducts the first tier of this Quest at a local level.

The Awards are run by qualification through local Shows, progressing to the Sub Chamber finals and then to the State Final. The local judging takes place each year immediately prior to the Fraser Coast Show in May. Sub Chamber finals are held usually in July and the States finals are held each year during the "EKKA" Show period.

So come along and become a Showgirl or Rural Ambassador and enjoy the adventure.
